By car, ten or fifteen minutes further down the road lies the huge Vilamoura estate. With its five major golf courses, it is now the single biggest golfing complex in Europe. Car hire
We
offer a complete range of vehicles through our agent in Faro from small
cars through to nine seater minicoaches, which are waiting for you at
the airport. Prices for a small car start at £81 for a winter week
including full insurance cover.
Going
east from Faro
airport, Tavira
offers more of a taste of the
"old” Portugal. It’s less frenetic than its more illustrious rivals on
the west coast and has three relatively new courses and a number of others
within a few miles with other courses just over the border in Spain a relatively
short drive away.

On the fringe of the city, has such a relaxing atmosphere and first class food, with many rooms overlooking the huge swimming pool from private balconies.
Albacora ****Its sister hotel, is set in the natural park of Ria Formosa which was once an entire fishermans village with its own church and school, and now a museum to the men who used to hunt the tuna.
Both hotels have indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and all the facilities expected of a four star hotel. The three local courses at Tavira, Quinta da Ria, Quinta de Cima and Benamour are a few minutes drive away from either of the Vila gale hotels.
